What pharmacological effect does urokinase have?

Urokinase is an enzyme protein isolated from the urine of healthy people or obtained from human kidney tissue cultures. It is composed of two parts with molecular weights of 33000 (LMW-TCU-PA) and 54000(HMW-TCU-PA), respectively. So today Xiaobian will introduce the pharmacological effect of urokinase.

What pharmacological effect does urokinase have?

  1. Urokinase acts directly on the endogenous fibrinolytic system and can catalyze the lysis of plasminogen into plasminolytic enzyme.

Endogenous fibrinolysis system can not only degrade fibrin clots, but also degrade fibrinogen, coagulation factor Ⅴ and coagulation factor in blood circulation, so as to play the role of thrombolysis, and the effect of newly formed thrombus is fast and good.

  2. Urokinase can improve vascular ADP enzyme activity, inhibit ADP-induced platelet aggregation, and prevent thrombosis.

After intravenous infusion, the activity of plasminase in patients was significantly increased. A few hours after discontinuation of the drug, plasminase activity returns to its original level, but the decrease in plasma fibrin or fibrinogen levels, and the increase in their degradation products, lasts for 12 to 24 hours.
