Changes of hCG in different periods
After implantation, hCG is secreted as trophoblast cells develop. The amount of hCG is small at the beginning of normal pregnancy, but it peaks at 8-10 weeks of gestation, and then gradually declines. After 14 weeks (100 days), hCG decreased significantly. HCG was also higher in double (multiple) pregnancies than in single fetuses. The examination of hCG is of great significance in the diagnosis of early pregnancy, and is of certain value in the diagnosis, differentiation and course observation of pregnancy-related diseases, trophoblast tumors and other diseases.
